last christmas someone at rod's office gifted him four legoland tickets so we presented them to the boys on christmas in a willy wonka chocolate bar. using this gift was one of the most fun times on our trip. we had no stroller this time and we went on a thursday when no one was there. the lines were non existent and the weather was perfect. the new water park was not open for the summer yet but the rest of the water rides were. i was able to keep the pace and walk the entire park. i sat whenever the three boys went on a ride. it is the only way i like to visit those types of amusement parks--when no one is there. i am not a big lover of crowds of people and the line wait time was three minutes at any given ride. morgan went on the big roller coaster with his dad. he was so brave. i knew he was afraid but it was great to see him toughen up a little and be brave about going. we had to do some serious coercing to get jack to go on it one time after morgan went. they both got to pick out a mini-figure guy to have and trade with the park workers after they rode it. has anyone seen those little mini-figures? they are my new favorite thing about legos! i even wanted one and i know that sounds ridiculous. they are just so darn cute! and any worker that has them on his/her name badge you can trade with so the boys ended up with ones they really really wanted. it was sort of like disney's pin trading but these are so much cuter!
i think this will be the last time we go to legoland for jack and morgan. they are about at the top of the age range for loving it. they got to drive the volvo cars by themselves this time and that was something they'd been waiting a long time to be old enough to do. we did the new sea life aquarium there as well and it was good but i'm not sure i'd do it again. i prefer sea world or the long beach aquarium. but the boys did love the lego movie they showed in there about atlantis. it was the highlight for them. legoland took us from 9 am to 4 pm just because we enjoyed it so much. if it were our last time there it was one of our best.
on friday we were able to meet with all of our family and some of our brother's friends at three arch bay in laguna. this private beach was like hawaii. the steps to get down to it are a little daunting in number but once down there you feel like you are on the islands. the sand is soft and the water is crystal blue. we relaxed and chatted and let the children play pirates! i don't worry so much about jack and morgan at the beach. they don't brave the ocean waters very much. they stay right near the shore and look for sand crabs and play games with their littler cousins. darren and nikki brought the twins and it was fun to watch how much sand those two injested! i would have never been brave enough to take my twin one year olds to the beach but after seeing nikki be so relaxed about it i learned that it is very manageable and the children loved it! once the tide came in up to our chairs we headed for home. our time at the marriott was over so we got to go down and stay with darren and nikki in their new home for the rest of the weekend.
